DBU Baseball has one of the most storied and distinctive traditions in college baseball. For over 40 years, we've competed at the highest levels—all while staying true to our Christ-centered mission to glorify God in all we do.
Our journey began with 10 NAIA World Series appearances, including two national runner-up finishes. Even then, we weren't afraid to take on the best. In 1996, we finished 62-10, defeating the likes of Texas, Texas A&M (twice), and Baylor (twice). That fearless spirit helped lay the foundation for our transition to NCAA Division I.
By 2008, just three seasons into postseason eligibility, DBU made national headlines by earning an at-large berth to the College Station Regional with the 29th-best RPI in the nation. USA Today featured our story in an article titled "DBU Knows David-Goliath Story." But to those of us who know DBU Baseball, it wasn't a surprise—it was the next step in a tradition of excellence.
Since then, we've secured 13 regional bids in 17 years, hosted a regional, played in two Super Regionals, and won multiple conference championships. We've built Horner Ballpark—now one of the top facilities in the country—and continued to compete with programs many times our size.
Today, however, we face a new and urgent challenge.
The NCAA's upcoming House Settlement will change the game. Schools can now offer up to 34 full scholarships and provide additional compensation to players through Institutional NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) support. This marks a seismic shift from the previous 11.7 scholarship cap—and one that could leave programs like ours at a serious disadvantage without immediate action.
You helped build DBU Baseball into what it is today. You overcame the odds, competed with excellence, and established a program respected throughout college baseball. Now, we're asking you to be part of writing the next chapter.
If you're not yet part of the Dugout Club, we invite you to join and begin giving monthly. If you're already a member, would you consider increasing your support or encouraging others to get involved?
This isn't just about competing—it's about continuing a legacy. We don't want DBU Baseball to become a story that begins with, "I played there when we were good." We want it to be a legacy that continues to inspire generations to come.
